About Us
Who We Are
When Jesus was asked which commandment was the most important, He said, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and soul and mind and strength. And love your neighbor as yourself.” At Sweet Orchard we believe we are created to love Him, to make our whole life an act of worship. And Jesus told us to see Him in the most needy and vulnerable people around us, and to serve them. This is our mission – who we are. (Mark 12:28-34, Matthew 25:31-46)
Where We Came From
Many of us at Sweet Orchard have been together since we first started meeting in the basement of a Spanish professor’s house more than 45 years ago. We’ve changed locations many times since then, and welcomed new members, but our deep and abiding commitment to Christ and to each other remains the same. We are family.
